The same piazzas that pack out by 2pm empty into something closer to a stage set after dark, Trevi, Navona and the Pantheon all lit and considerably easier to actually see once the day trip buses have gone. A gelato stop is built into the route rather than left to find alone, generally at a spot that makes its own rather than buying it in from a wholesaler.
